How Strong is Your Love?

Updated: May 6

I asked myself the question is Love strong enough because for the past 11 years I have been developing this campaign to promote Love in our electronic world, but I met many challenges and made some startling discoveries; one of which is...Love is not as interesting a subject to talk about as I thought it would be. It was difficult getting people interested in talking about Love for any length of time. This was puzzling and frustrating to me and I wondered what I could do to get the conversation started and keep it going.

When I sat down to find a relevant way to generate a dialogue surrounding the topic of Love, I thought ideas would fly off the shelves of my brain, and pretty soon Love would be trending all around the world. I have social media sites set up to go, and content to discuss, so what should have been a breeze, left me shaking my head!

So after searching my mind, and heart, the idea came to me, to take a poll. Surely this would get people talking about Love! But then the details... What question should I ask, how many people should I sample, where should I conduct the poll, would people be open to a stranger asking them such a strange question (as I was sure it would be)? So many questions ran through my mind. I was sure that a poll would be the right vehicle to get my campaign moving, but the question had to be the right one.

For this task, I enlisted the help of my very opinionated, son who was 17 at the time. After much discussion, and tossing around a few ideas, I came up with this simple, but relevant question.

"On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate peoples ability to show Love to others in terms of sacrifice today?"

This question won out because it seemed to be the best question to 1) achieve the goal of engaging people in a dialogue about Love, and 2) finding out how people perceive Love's ability in our world today.

Mission accomplished...now let's see if people start talking. I'll keep you posted :)
